Terms of Reference Sr. Manager Communications, WWF - Pakistan Department : Communications Reporting to : Sr. Director, WWF-Pakistan Employment Grade : D1 / Sr. Manager Duty Station : WWF- Pakistan Head Office, Lahore Duration / Type of Contract : Long-term / Annual Renewable Work Week : 5 days (Monday to Friday) 40 hrs / week Work Hours : 0830 hrs to 1715 hrs Working Relationships: External : Journalists, writers, creative agencies, partners, donors, and stakeholders Internal : WWF Network Summary The position will work towards creating a favorable image of WWF - Pakistan within and outside the Network and promote its efforts and position on various conservation issues, using strategic, relevant and innovative communications. The incumbent should have a pleasant, dynamic and communicative personality and the ability to engage and convince others. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assist in designing and implementing a clear and effective external communications strategy. 2. Deliver targeted and inventive external communications that catalyses change, provides opportunities / means for action, strengthens the WWF profile / brand and complements efforts to raise funds. 3. Develop / compile compelling stories from the field that promotes WWF – Pakistan’s conservation effort within and outside the WWF network and at all levels to create maximum impact. 4. Develop campaigns / activities to highlight various environmental issues; also help secure funding for all such activities. 5. Make optimal use of social media networks such as Face book, Twitter etc; 6. Review the contents of WWF - Pakistan’s select internal & external publications and other promotional / educational materials. Promote external publications through book stores and publication houses; 7. Represent WWF - Pakistan at different forums to promote nature conservation and enhance the image of the organization. 8. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with targeted online, print and broadcast journalists, editorial writers and columnists to enhance the conservation efforts of WWF - Pakistan 9. Coordinate and / or support as appropriate the communications for priority local / international advocacy and policy interventions; 10. Ensure the linguistic integrity and information accuracy of WWF - Pakistan’s website. TORs Sr. Manager Communications, WWF-Pakistan Page 1 Selection Criteria Education, Experience & Working Knowledge Masters / 4 Year Bachelors degree in either Mass Communications, English Literature, Advertising, Journalism; Environmental Sciences or any other related subject; At least 7-9 years relevant professional experience; Experience / Expertise in editing & creative writing; Experience of working in a multicultural /multinational environment; Excellent knowledge of the global and/or regional conservation arena, key players, and policy processes; Strong commitment to conservation and development issues; Knowledge of Pakistan’s system of Government at various levels, especially the Information and Education sectors; Skills & Attributes Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and supervise people and plan, schedule and budget initiatives. Excellent diplomatic and communication skills, including an ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals within and outside the WWF Network; Demonstrated ability to enter into complex funding partnerships with a range of stakeholders; Exceptional Presentation Skills; International working experience, specifically in the coordination of a team/s of people with different cultural backgrounds, is essential. Ability to handle change and uncertainty; Proficiency in the use of computer office applications on word processing, spreadsheet and presentation. Proven success record in advocacy / change communications; Articulate, creative and attention to detail, diplomacy and discretion; Excellent written / spoken English and Urdu; other languages will be an advantage; Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment Interest in conservation and environmental issues; Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Passionate & Optimistic, Challenging & Inspiring, Credible & Accountable, and Persevering & Delivering Results.
