Workshop Participants – What You Need to Do Prior to the Workshop
1. Create a Login in WebJunction to access Materials for the Workshop
Instructions for Registering with WebJunction:
Visit the WebJunction Pennsylvania site (http://pa.webjunction.org/).
Create a new account or sign in with your current WebJunction username and
If you create a new account, be sure to check the box to request affiliation with
Pennsylvania, when you reach the affiliations page.
If you already have an account, after signing in, click on Edit Account and the My
Affiliations tab to request affiliation with Pennsylvania. Affiliation requests may take 24
hours or longer to process.
2. Print Workshop Materials – Bring them to the Workshop
Login to WebJunction. Following the chart below, print or save files. Files can be saved on
a laptop that you intend to bring to the workshop or on a memory stick/flash drive that you
can access during the workshop.
Directions for Locating the Collection Evaluation Materials in WebJunction:
Click on the PA RESOURCES tab across the top
Select COMMONWEALTH LIBRARIES PROGRAMS & SERVICES from the left-hand frame
Scroll down to and click on SCHOOL LIBRARIES
Click on COLLECTION EVALUATION WORKSHOP
Click on the “Documents” tab to access the workshop PowerPoint and handouts.
Printing or Saving Files
Participants should bring a print copy of items beside the “print” column to the workshop.
Items beside “digital” may be loaded on a laptop or flash drive/memory stick. Or,
participants may print the suggested digital pages/sheets. Handouts will not be provided at

Print one version- either the 6 slides per page (9 pages total) or 3
slides per page with space for note taking (17 pages total)
Print Activity 1: Percent of Relative Use-Directions & Questions ( 3 pages)
Digital Excel spreadsheet of Activity 1: PRU or print Sheet 1
Print Activity 2: Collection Building-500s- Directions & Questions (5 pages)

Print Activity 3: Weeding Plan- Directions & Questions (2 pages)
Digital Activity 3 Assists -The Weeding Plan (2 pages) or print
Time-Sensitive Dewey Decimal Classification Categories (from Standards for
Missouri School Library Media Centers c2008 – 1page) or print
CREW: A Weeding Manual for Modern Libraries
(http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/pubs/crew) It is 93 pages long.

Optionally, participants may wish to bring a Dewey tens report from the last complete
school year (Sept-June) generated from their circ systems.
Additional resources will be added to the WebJunction site, including weeding plans
from Activity 3 as workshops are completed.
