									                  WEST OF SCOTLAND SCHOOL OF ANAESTHESIA – ST 3 AND 4

        ST 3-4 – GUIDANCE FOR COMPLETION OF WORKPLACE BASED ASSESSMENTS
These notes are to assist the trainee in filling out the tables of their Evidence of Satisfactory Completion of
Workplace Based Assessments ( in keeping with : ‘CCTin Anaesthetics 111– Competency Based Intermediate
Level (years 3 and 4 , Training and Assessment March 2009’ on the RCoA website – college officials secure
area).

       The RCoA states that a minimum of 1 DOPS, 1 Anaes-Cex and 1 CBD be done per unit –
        this is the bare minimum – do more if feasible. The West of Scotland WPBA is also
        required, and is completed at end of unit.

       N.B. It is essential to complete ALL key and general units

       Remember – guidelines for assessments for ICM are on website.

       The College Tutor will arrange the Consultant Assessments (tick box sheet) .

       Your Educational Supervisor (ES) or College Tutor (CT) will review DOPS, Anaes-Cex,
        CBDs, and the Consultant Assessments (tick box sheet) before you receive your West of
        Scotland WPBA for each unit. For Key Unit this will be done by ES or CT at the specialist unit
        (e.g.Yorkhill).

       ALL of this paperwork should be available for your ES to review at regular meetings throughout
        the year and for your ES report prior to ARCP.

       ST 4 trainees (August 2009) – even if you have not used new assessments tools in ST3,
        please start in ST 4 for key units and as many general and additional units as possible.
