Job title: Policing and Law Enforcement Consultant
Responsible to: Employer Relationship Manager

Job Description
Job purpose:
To support the Relationship Manager in business development and the delivery of
sector engagement plans; offering consultancy services, specialist advice and
solution development.
Key accountabilities:
1 Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients and stakeholders
in accordance with priorities articulated in relevant engagement plans
2 Proactively establish and maintain effective working relationships with employers
and stakeholders at all levels and develop the profile of Skills for Justice
3 Consult with clients to understand their HR and workforce development needs
and identify areas for development, building on existing good practice
4 Advise clients on solutions appropriate to their needs and promote existing
products and services, identifying opportunities to provide complementary
solutions
5 Identify and develop new business opportunities to generate income and secure
sustainable business
6 Manage and deliver consultancy projects based upon identified client needs
7 Identify trends in employer needs and related workforce development issues
across the sector, and use these to inform solution development and the wider
work of Skills for Justice
8 Research existing approaches to HR and workforce development in client
organisations, and produce case studies to share good practice
9 Develop the profile of Skills for Justice with external stakeholders to create brand
value
10 Promote the work of Skills for Justice internally through regular briefings

Typical, knowledge, skills and experience:
Essential
1 Strong consultancy skills and experience in determining client needs, priorities
and required business improvement solutions
2 Knowledge and understanding of the policing and law enforcement sector
3 Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop relationships
with employers and other stakeholders both internally and externally
4 Strong influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to gain agreement and
commitment from others
5 Proven track record of generating new business and meeting income targets
6 Strong communication, presentation and report writing skills with good attention
to detail
7 Proven analytical skills, including the ability to identify, assess and prioritise
trends from employer information
8 Strong initiative and organisational skills with the ability to deliver a diverse and
demanding work programme to time, cost and quality
9 Competent IT user experienced in the use of Microsoft Office 2003 or above
10 Understanding and commitment to equality and valuing diversity
11 A flexible approach to tasks, travel, and hours of work
Desirable

13 Existing network of contacts in the policing and law enforcement sector
