Luke 2:1-7

Part One: The Tiny Hands of God
I.      He created the world.
          A. John 1:3 3All things were made through Him, and without Him
              nothing was made that was made.
          B. Psalm 19:1…The heavens declare the glory of God; And the
              firmament shows His handiwork.
          C. All this and you are the work of His hands.
II.     Now the Creator came to the earth He created.
          A. Born of a virgin.
          B. Emmanuel- God with us- in the form of a baby!!!
          C. The tiny hands of Christmas.

III.    Can you imagine holding the tiny hand of God as man?

Part Two: The Healing Hands of Christ
I.      The hands that grew.
          A. Accepting all of your limitations
          B. Shaping wood as a carpenter.
          C. He would work the earth He had created.
II.     The hands that healed.
          A. Luke 5:12-16… touching the leper.
          B. Matthew 8:15… He touched her hand, and the fever left her.
           C. No wonder the ruler asked in Matthew 9:18 18While He spoke these
                things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My
                daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she
                will live.”
           D. Matthew 9:25, Luke 8:54, took her by the hand, and the girl arose.
           E. Healing the blind.
           F. Reaching out with love.
           G. Holding a child.
III.     Imagine him holding your hand.
IV.      But first His hand had to hold your sin.

Part Three: The Scarred Hands of Christmas
I.       The crucified hands- John 20:19-29.
           A. Hands that had created the world.
           B. Hands that had healed the sick.
           C. Hands that hand demonstrated the love of God.
           D. Hands that had never done wrong.
II.      They put nails into these hands.
           A. Those tiny hands of the Christmas child were destined for these nails.
           B. The price of our sin would be transferred.
           C. The angels would stand by in horror and dismay.
           D. The hands were now the ultimate hands of healing.
III.     The end of the beginning.
IV.      The resurrection and the scars.

Closing… The tiny hands of God, the healing hands of Christ and the scarred
hands of Christmas are all the same hands… They will be the hands that will
welcome you to heaven.

      1. What do you think it was like for Mary and Joseph to hold Jesus’ hand and
         know He was the Messiah?
      2. When you think about Jesus’ healing hands what goes through your mind?
      3. Read John 20:19-29 and talk about what His hands would have looked like
         and why Thomas wanted to see them.
      4. Why do you think Jesus kept the scars in His glorified body ?
