Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
As the country gets more developed, cancers are getting more and more common. With
the development of new modalities of treatment, these patients are surviving longer.
Therefore, we are seeing an increase in the number of cases with bone metastasis.
These metastases frequently occur around the hip joint (peritrochanteric and peri
acetabular). Metastases at these regions are prone to fracture as they are at the weight
bearing areas. Therefore, proper assessment and management is essential in the
management of these cases.
We describe a series of cases that presented to the orthopaedic oncology unit in
University Malaya Medical Centre and how they were managed.
