Beauty on the Inside

							Dear Families of 8th Grade Girls,

Far too often, young ladies feel pressured to dress or look a certain way in order to feel as though they
fit in or belong. While as adults, we all know inner beauty is the key to happiness; peer pressure can
blur that message to our children. Wouldn’t it be great if we could give each girl a confidence boost by
leveling the playing field a bit, and peeling back the artificial barriers?

With the support of the school administration and faculty, I am, bringing my self-esteem program called
“Beauty’s on the Inside” to Worthingway Middle School. This is a totally free program that helps girls
identify, cope with, and stamp out the meanness that can surface among girls at this age. If your child
elects to participate on the designated date, Friday, September 28th, she will agree to dress down-
without makeup, pull hair back, and wear sweatpants or jeans with the free T-shirt which will be
provided to every girl. The shirt will read “Beauty’s on the Inside” as the main message on front, with a
few supporting sponsors on the back.

It is a wonderful thing to see the solidarity we can create through this program! I hope you embrace the

Please sign the permission slip below, and have your child return the form with her name and t-shirt size
preference to her teacher by Friday, September 7th. T-shirts will be distributed before the event so the
girls can wear them on September 28th for our “Beauty’s on the Inside” kickoff assembly.
