Dear Academy Families,

 Thank you to all Academy families who have volunteered during our summer session.
Our snack bar has earned over $3000 dollars for our Academy Program. Thank you to
Academy snack bar organizers Kellie Bark, Michelle Stanley, Ruth Jacobson, and
Marcelle Ouellet. Our 4th of July Celebration on July 3rd was a huge success. Thank you
Academy parent Sherry White for leading and organizing this annual event. Academy
teacher Brian Frost, summer school principal Casey Currigan, and Academy principal
David Hall also deserve recognition for the work they put into this event. Academy
parents who led the celebration committees were: Lori Romero, Kelly Smith and
Michelle Hobbs. Thank you Russ Maine for the always popular “photo booth” and Mark
Dycaico for being our DJ. Thank you all “Academy Helpers” (our Academy student
graduates who came back this summer to help). We are so proud of our Academy
students who are heading to high school. It is a wonderful testament to this program that
over one dozen ninth graders returned this summer to help as volunteers in our
classrooms.



Announcements:

   1.   No School on Friday, July 4
   2.   Friday July 11th is the last day of our summer session
   3.   All Academy students must register at BMMS on the following dates:

               8th Grade, August 11th (Monday) 8:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

               7th Grade, August 12th (Tuesday) 8:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

               6th Grade, August 13th (Wednesday) 8:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

               Make-up, August 14th (Thursday) 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

   4.   The Academy School year resumes on Tuesday, August 19th at 7:40am.



Volunteer Opportunities:

   1. Please record your volunteer hours in the “Academy” binder in the main office
   2. We have volunteer needs for Science Olympiad; next Monday and Tuesday
      afternoons/evenings (7/7 and 7/8), from 1:30pm until we get tired. We need
       assistance with moving the SO shed from BMMS to Mt. Carmel (it needs to be
       moved, due to the remodel). Also, we need a leader for Science Olympiad! The
       Head Coach position is open for next year. We’ve farmed out some of the duties
       to other volunteers, so it will not be as daunting of a job as in the past, and I’ll

    3. Parents are needed to help at registration August 11-14. Please contact PTSA
       parent Nicole Sanseverino nsansev@san.rr.com and home 538-2200 and cell 722-

    4. BMMS Librarian Janet Alkema needs parent volunteers beginning next week 7/6.
       She will be processing new math books. She will also need help during
       registration August 11-14. Please contact Janet at jalkema@powayusd.com
