“DO NOT GIVE FALSE HOPES!”
It is reliably learnt that Sri.K.S.Dahiya, Under Secretary to the Government
of India in DOT has written a strongly worded letter to the CMD/BSNL on
23rd July 2012 objecting to the agreement reached with the unions on 78.2%
IDA merger without consulting the DOT.
We reproduce the relevant para below in the said letter NO.40-09/2012-Pen
(T) dated 23.07.2012.
“ It is stated that the pension to the BSNL absorbees is being paid under Rule
37A of CCS (Pension) Rules 1972 by the Govt of India from it’s consolidated
fund. As such BSNL has no power to make any commitment regarding
pension. It may kindly be noted that for any commitment made by BSNL
without Government approval, BSNL alone will be held responsible.
Accordingly you are advised to withdraw the commitment mentioned in Para
Many of us were “perplexed” by the attitude of the Management in not
placing the issue of 78.2% IDA merger in the two successive Management
Committee meetings held on 19th and 25th July, 2012 on the dubious reason of
“no time for discussion”. Now we understand the real reason for the delay.
At least now BSNLEU and other unions/associations must stop giving false
hopes to our employees and retired officials for 78.2% IDA merger. Instead
they should tell the truth so that the employees are prepared for a strike to
achieve the long denied 78.2 IDA merger without ofcourse any conditions.
