NEWS RELEASE

In response to the Nature Conservation Council legal action in the Administrative Appeals
Tribunal calling for more protection for the supposedly endangered Grey Nurse Shark, The
Fishing Party has applied to be joined to the case.

Of course the NCC has objected to the party being involved so the party will be appearing at
the interlocutory hearing at the Tribunal on Friday 25th May commencing 9.30 am.

Robert Smith, the party chairman said that there is much scepticism and almost universal
distrust about what the Nature Conservation Council says and campaigns on with their marine
agenda, so The Fishing Party will be seeking to make sure all the facts are presented and
exposed to the Tribunal if we are accepted. The party would most likely seek an adjournment
on the June resumption of the case and so-called experts need to be challenged as there is
just as much evidence in contradiction of what they say, especially about shark numbers and
the sites sought for no-fishing zones or even fishing methods.

Recreational, commercial and indigenous fishers along with all the associated businesses are
all impacted on when any access denial occurs; sometimes whole community survival
depends on fishing access.

Mr. Smith said the party will also be seeking information and interest from any likely affected
stakeholder.
