Congress (the Legislative Branch) is responsible for making laws. Without
communication between Congressman and constituents, they don’t know the
beliefs and needs of the people they represent. Writing letters to Congressman is
one way of sharing views with the policy makers of our country.
From the following ideas, write an informative and persuasive letter to a Congressman
1. Letter must follow business format (as indicated on the back of this paper) – 5 points
(Include an introduction of yourself)
2. The issue to be discussed must be: - 10 points
a. Clear (not vague)
b. Be supported statistically (with citations) with respectable/reliable research
3. Be written using formal English without any spelling or grammatical errors – 5 points
4. Be persuasive and include your opinion– 10 points
