Where has the year gone? This has to be the fastest school year I have ever experienced!
What a treat for all of us to have spent these 180 days with such bright and loving
children. Thank you for sharing them with us on a daily basis. Have a safe and relaxing
summer. We look forward to seeing you all again in August!

We've Got Spirit... Yes We Do!
Congratulations to our Mighty Math Mustangs who shared their school spirit and
excitement for math with other Leon County schools at the Mini Mu Math competition
held at FSUS. The Mustangs took home the First Place trophy for School Spirit.
Congratulations also go out to John Ameen and Stephen Barton who placed third and
fourth. WAY TO GO MUSTANGS!

Kindergarten registration:
Now is the time to register for kindergarten. If you have a child entering school or know
of a neighbor or friend with a kindergarten age child living in the Moore school zone,
registration packets are available in the front office. Please register children early so we
can plan accordingly for next year. A school tour is being held on May 12th beginning at
9:30 for interested kindergarten parents and first time Mustangs.

New Front Office Staff:
Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Sandra Hudson to W.T. Moore. Mrs. Hudson is the
friendly new face in our front office. Our students and staff have made her feel welcome
with a variety of cards, posters, and even a song or two. Please feel free to introduce
yourselves when you come in. For those of you who may be wondering what has
happened to Mrs. Scott, she is now W.T. Moore’s bookkeeper!

Volunteer of the Year:
Congratulations to our own Michele Meyer who was recently named Leon County School
Volunteer of the Year. Michele was presented with flowers and balloons here at school
and was also recognized at the district volunteer appreciation luncheon last week. As you
all know, Mrs. Meyer is a tireless volunteer who gives her time, talent, and heart to W.T.
Moore on a daily basis. We are so proud of you, Michele!

Parent Involvement Award:
The Department of Education recognizes schools across the country that exemplify
activities promoting parent involvement. W. T. Moore was selected as the only
elementary school to represent Leon County. We were presented with a plaque for our
“Celebrate Success Family Fun Night” which was held last spring. Many thanks to all of
you who helped with that event, especially Francheska Jones who served as our
coordinator. The goal of this award is to share information with other schools that are
looking for ways to increase parent involvement. Way to go Moore parents!

Carnival Update:
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our school carnival. It was such a success
because who were there! Thank you to all of you who sent in items or provided coverage
at the booths. It was truly a super fun event enjoyed by all. And just another example of
what a great group of parents we have at Moore!

W.T. Moore Spirit Night:
Join us at Chick-fil-A on Capital Circle Thursday night, May 15th. This is a great
opportunity to meet your children’s’ friends, their parents, and all of us! Moore receives
a percentage of profits that night to use for school-related technology and classroom
needs. For those of you who have joined us in the past, you know how much fun we have.
Hope to see you there!
