If you win $10 Million or $100 Million in the Lottery, will your
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments stop?
The answer is NO...Only income from wages or working is considered a
factor to stop SSDI payments. So if you have $100,000 in the bank and
receive $6,000 per year in interest, or you have other Non-Working
income your payments will not stop. However, if your single and your
combined earnings from SSDI and other working or non-working
income totals $25,000 or more, you will have to PAY TAXES ON YOUR
So you can be a millionaire before you become disabled and still be
able to apply and receive SSDI.
SSDI IS NOT WELFARE, as in order to be eligible for SSDI, you would
have had to accumulate at least 40 tax credits and at least10 years of
work to qualify. And that's why you pay or paid Social Security and
Medicare Taxes when you worked, and is considered MANDATORY
FUNDING each year by Congress.
SSI (Supplementary Security Income) is WELFARE and the money
appropriated for it by Congress is not Mandatory Funding but Social
Security Disability is Mandatory Funding
