Modelling Thermal Energy Losses in the Home
You have been learning about thermal energy transfer through conduction
and convection. Your homework task for this half term is to build a model
house that illustrates the following:
How energy is lost through conduction.
How energy is lost through convection.
How cavity wall insulation works in particular how it prevents
How loft insulation works and what is important about the material used
for loft insulation.
How double glazing works.
Make sure you annotate your model to show your understanding of what
conduction and convection are.
You could also include some information about costs and payback times.

Density is the amount of matter you have in a fixed volume.
When we give something thermal energy we make it move more.
There is no such thing as HEAT.
Thermal energy is just movement of the particles.
Cold is just lack of thermal energy i.e. lack of movement.
Vibration DOES NOT create thermal energy. Energy cannot be created, only
changed from one type to another.
