ADMINISTRATIVE POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE OF POSITION: Assistant Director of Sports Media Relations
DEPARTMENT: Athletics, Rose Hill
Primary media contact for women’s basketball, softball, men’s soccer, and men’s golf.
Assists with other sports when necessary.
Assists with administering all media services for the Athletic Department; designing and editing media guides and
game programs, coordinating interviews, producing press releases and game notes, and recording statistical
Provides media relations event and game-day management activities.
Maintains and updates the athletic web site, to include scores, rosters, schedules, articles, press releases, statistics,
and game notes. Responsible for incorporating GameTracker and video streaming for selected sports.
Provides conference offices with required information for weekly releases and announcements.
Supervises the statistics staff, and work-study staff that assist in the administration of all athletic contests for
selected sports as determined by the Director of Media Relations.
Assists the Athletic Department in its communication and public relations initiatives with the Office of Public
Assists with the preparation and editing of scripts and publications for Athletic Department special events.
Attends home and away games for selected teams.
Compliance with all NCAA, Atlantic 10 and University rules and regulations.
Additional duties as assigned.
Position involves night and weekend work as well as travel with selected teams.
Bachelor’s degree in communications or other related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Minimum of two years’ experience in a collegiate Sports Information Office, Conference Office, or closely related
field required, preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts
Exceptional writing and editing skills required.
Computer experience with PageMaker/InDesign and Microsoft Word required.
Knowledge of Statcrew software programs required.
Experience with video streaming and editing in Windows Media Required.
Experience with TriCaster preferred.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
