Final Report For CVC Award
Robin Rogers Cloud Art 299 Watercolor Painting for the Novice
I learned after I applied for this CVC Grant that my curriculum had changed for the Art 299 course. I would be designing a whole new course for Spring 2008 instead of renovating Art 299 part A and changing it from CD to DVD. This final project is the first three weeks of the “Art 299 Watercolor Painting for the Novice” course. This entire project was about problem solving. These were the issues that I have to solve: Developing easy painting lessons for demonstration purposes on video clips that were only about 10 minutes long. How to improve my filming techniques for Video Demonstrations for my DVD. How to liven up my web pages for the course? How I would present this project to the judges since I could not send a DVD to all the Judges. Having to learn how to use iWeb and make all my video clips into Video pod casts using .Mac as the server.
I believe that I solved most of the issues that I started with doing this project. I completed the three weeks of web pages and video clips. I submitted this project as web pages with Video Pod cast clips for the Judging. However the course for Spring 2008 will have a DVD and I will have it Close Captioned. Video Pod casts are great but I am still trying to figure out a way to Close Caption the video in an adequate manner. Many things have change since I made my first online class (Art 299 part A) in 2003. I went from CD to DVD. CCC Confer has made communication with the students a breeze. The Art Critiques that I host on Confer are really helpful and popular with my students. The new programs like iWeb will really speed up the time of doing web pages. The CVC Grant was great because it got me working on this course earlier. Now I am well on my way to completing Art 299 Watercolor Painting for the Novice ahead of time.
