Role of the Counseling Team International (TCTI)

The counseling team provides a packet of material to be mailed to families regarding
grief, services, etc.

The Forest Service will need to identify how many sessions will be approved. Short term
should include six months or twelve sessions. Long-term may include up to two years.
Each family will have different needs. The forest needs to identify maximum costs for
these services and define the period of time that the families will be covered.

The Agency Liaison will contact the family in one week to see how the family is doing.
Identify with the family who will need continued grief counseling services. The
_________ family utilized TCTI, NAME OF COUNSELOR, PHONE .

Permission will need to be granted from the family for continued contact with identified
names, and contact phone numbers provide to TCTI. Contact from TCTI will be made
every three months by NAME OF COUNSELOR to the family and appointments
scheduled to meet if needed.

Financial Advisor

In two weeks, the Wildland Firefighter Foundation and/or another organization may
make contact with ___________and provide financial advice related to donated funds,
investments, etc.

Role of the Agency Family Liaison

Follow up/ contact by phone or in person with the __________ Family. Contact should
be at least once a week for the first month and a minimum of once a month following.
This will bring to the family the comfort of the agency’s continued support and
recognition of the importance of their loved one lost in the line of duty.

Understand trigger points for the family and ensure contact is made during the holidays,
________________ birthday, etc.

The continued contact will help identify who in the family is hurting and may be in need
of grief counseling, etc.
Role of the Chaplain

He forged a good relationship with him and would like to offer continued support and
care to him. He has ______________ phone number and will make contact direct.

Forest Long-Term Care

__________________, Forest Supervisor host a tea for all of the ladies after the first of
the year. This should include: wives, mothers, sisters, nieces, grandmothers, etc.

At the Danny Rhynes Training Center create and build a memorial in loving memory of
Engine 57. This should be thoughtful and input received from the entire forest to develop.
This will facilitate grieving for everyone, since everyone is affected by this tragic loss.
