                              Egregious Sexual Assault Case

Carver County Attorney Jim Keeler announced today the sentencing of Gary Eugene Drummond, 37, for
sexually assaulting a ten year old girl in 2006.

Drummond, formerly of Chaska, pled guilty to Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct for sexually assaulting
the girl while he was acting as her caretaker or guardian. Drummond was the boyfriend of the victim’s mother
at the time of the assault. Although the assault occurred in 2006, it was not discovered until 2008.

Judge Kevin Eide sentenced the defendant to 108 months – nine years – in prison. In addition, the defendant is
subject to an additional ten year conditional release period under the supervision of the Minnesota Department
of Corrections.

The defendant must register for life as a predatory offender. The defendant was ordered to pay restitution and
have no contact with the victim or her family.
