The Appalachian Forest Heritage Area Volunteer Program seeks to engage volunteers
and organizations to work together to conserve and develop our shared forest heritage.
AFHA will maximize volunteer and organizational efforts to promote volunteerism,
cultivate partnerships, and provide a mechanism to bring volunteers and partners
together. AFHA will also build community awareness of the Volunteer program and our
partner organizations by utilizing traditional and non-traditional resources.
AFHA agrees to:
Publicize volunteer opportunities. This may include calendar listings, web
postings, traditional and new media outreach to inform the public.
Recruit and match volunteers with registered opportunities, through various
means including mobile volunteer booth, volunteerwv.org postings, targeted
marketing to niche markets..
Track volunteer work and hours using a variety of means, including use of
volunteerwv.org, our own databases, and proprietary web sites. Tracked hours
can be used to motivate volunteers, and for documenting in-kind contributions.
Provide tools and suggestions to help partners utilize best practices for event
planning, volunteer management, and retention
Develop recognition activities, including annual event, media, and personal
Support evaluation and feedback
Help manage and implement volunteer projects when included in an AFHA /
AmeriCorps sub-sponsor work plan and contracted separately from this
Partner agrees to:
Implement and track volunteer projects in conjunction with AFHA’s Volunteer
Supply all required information to AFHA in a timely fashion
Publish and post AFHA and AmeriCorp partnerships in all marketing pertaining
to joint volunteer efforts, and at all volunteer sites.
Share with AFHA any volunteer databases for the benefit of, and the private use
of the partner.
Support and contribute to the shared goals of the AFHA Volunteer Program,
including, but not limited to; participation in retention and recognition programs,
fiscal contributions to joint efforts as determined to by both parties, dedicate
volunteer time to various volunteer recruitment and retention efforts such as the
AFHA Volunteer Booth, follow up and evaluation of volunteer projects, tracking
of volunteer hours, mass mailings and tele-marketing, and participation in
periodic seminars, workshops, and meetings as the program may require from
time to time.
Indemnify and hold harmless AFHA, it’s representatives, and assignees from all
actions resulting from the partnership herein created. This includes, but is not
limited to, actions arising as a result of partner developed and managed volunteer
projects and events, actions brought to redress grievances stemming from the
shared use of volunteer records, and any and all actions outside the direct control
of AFHA and it’s members. Partner additionally agrees to defend AFHA in any
such actions and to pay any court costs or attorneys fees arising from said actions.
Partner understands that AFHA is not the manager or organizer for any volunteer
event, and is solely acting in a support capacity for the overall volunteer efforts of
the partner. Partner further understands that Partner is solely responsible for
managing and organizing their own events unless specific and conditional
agreements are made between both organizations as separate instruments apart
from this agreement, and executed on a case by case basis, or in such a manner to
define the roles of each organization separate from any understanding within this
The Partner and AFHA both agree that this is the total agreement between both parties
for this program, and herewith attach their authorized signatures to this agreement for the
benefit of each.
