LOGIS GIS Policy Committee Meeting

This is the 3rd meeting in 2010 of the LOGIS GIS Policy Committee/GIS Users Group.
Agenda Item 1: Training Update
Tim opened the meeting with an update of the LOGIS training schedule for ArcGIS 10.
Ben stated that training for the first four classes filled up in two days so two additional classes
were added. These also filled. Due to training room availability LOGIS was unable to add
additional sessions so LOGIS GIS staff will offer additional on-site training if necessary.
Ben noted that we are training 76 people. This is the most people we have ever had.
Agenda Item 2: 2010 Work Plan
Utility Billing and AssessingBaseMap
Assessing Base Map is moving into Phase II being converted to a SQL backend this
summer along with a Users meeting to be scheduled. The long term goal is to move this
functionality into LOGISMap2. Assessors have sent out Statements and are in
Evaluation Board reviews.
Utility Billing Basemap has one city in demo, Brooklyn Center. Craig and Lonnie have
been meeting and they are reviewing the reports. Craig will go back through the support
requests to determine commonalties across cities. LOGIS GIS will be using compiled
reports for mapping to keep data valid. Tami said any kind of mapping end products are
appreciated. She also stated that they should start mapping through reports and start
Formal weekly internal discussion as the formal documentation continues.
Cannot move forward with development of new PIMA or PIMAWeb until the new Police
system is established.

On-Going Work Plan Items
Preliminary ArcGIS10 release date is now June 2010
Project 1039 – PIMS Scheduling Map for Ray (40 Hour project. Start date to be
BC needs a mobile app for scheduling
GIS Outreach – Development process for a LOGIS Portal is underway. Launching
RFI authored and sent last week. RFP for development. Monthly blogs will go through
the LOGIS technical writer staff.
Agenda Item 3: GIS User Group Planning for May 5th and topics
ArcGIS 10 – Symbol Templates – Editing – Oak Grove Signs -
LOGISMap 2 – Progress report would be a quick thing.
Still need a project plan completed by 10th April
Concurrent License Availability – New lic files and disconnected licenses.
Update to Work Plan
ArcIMS Parkfinder – Note there are changes.
August Topics – UB BaseMap, ArcMap 10, LOGISMap2, Police
Agenda Item 4: Misc items
LOGIS Business Continuity Plan – Still being updated. Ongoing every 6th months.
Scott asked if we should anticipate Training for fall. Ben responded that training will be offered
upon request as previously determine by the GISPC.
Ali updated the committee on the April 21 City Works open discussion for those cities wishing to
discuss CityWorks. It will be a round table of what each city is currently doing and if there has
been any CityWorks progress or internal enhancements. Asked if other LOGIS cities should be
invited that are not in the LOGIS GIS subscription. Someone should contact Coon Rapids. This
group will be facilitated at LOGIS.
Tami informed the committee of ESRI’s Community Mapping Program – Altas Project. ESRI is
asking cities for data to go on their web site. This is for planimetric data including buildings. Data
will be used in a free ERI service (TopoMapUSA) and formal ESRI training will be required to
learn the process. Contact Gerry Johnson at the local ESRI office for information.
