									Decision Support Manager

RSSB builds consensus and facilitates the resolution of difficult cross-industry issues
in an industry with multiple stakeholders. RSSB provides analysis, knowledge and a
substantial level of technical expertise across a whole range of subject areas.

The Decision Support Manager leads and manages a team of Decision Support
Specialists in the Standards Policy Department of RSSB.

The role is to lead a team that prepares and delivers documents for cross-industry
meetings facilitated by RSSB. These documents enable the meeting membership to
take informed decisions about changes to the railway system.

The Decision Support Manager ensures that the arguments in these documents are
logical, robust and defensible in accordance with the decision-taking principles set
out in the governance arrangements for the type of document in question. These
arguments should be supported by a suitable and sufficient evaluation of the impacts
arising from any change.

A strong emphasis on the economic impacts of change is required.

     Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical subject such as
      economics, engineering or science
     Conceptual thinking and analytical skills
     Good understanding of Cost Benefit Analysis techniques and significant
      experience in applying them
     Good written communication skills
   Experience of transport economic analysis and Department for Transport /
    Treasury approaches to project evaluation
   Knowledge of the GB or European railway industry

This is a 1 year fixed term contract.
