Kildare County Council Arts Service Bursary Awards 2012

LOCAL PUBLISHING AWARD
The Local Publishing Award has been established to assist Kildare based individuals and groups
with the costs associated with publishing writing of local interest. The aim of the award is to
recognise the contribution of scholarly work to our knowledge of the history and heritage of Co.
Kildare and to assist with the publication of said scholarly work. It is not in the form of a prize for
individual articles or essays but as a contribution to individuals and groups for the publication of
their work.
Two awards of €600 will be made in 2012

CONDITIONS

1. Applications are accepted on the official application form only.
2. Applicants must be originally from or currently resident in County Kildare.
3. Applications should demonstrate the ability to carry out the research, printing and publishing
stages of the project.
4. Of particular interest, are works that relate to the history and heritage of Co Kildare, which
should be clearly articulated in the application form
5. The material must be for publication in traditional format such as book, booklets, collections,
compilations, or other media including film, audio and not on the internet or as part of third
party publications.
6. Grant aid provided by Kildare County Council must be acknowledged in all publicity material
associated with the project. Council logos are available from the Arts Service. Council
reserves the right to publicise the awarding of the bursary award.
7. The intended work must be completed and proof of publication will be necessary for the
successful applicant to claim the award – two copies (to be provided free of charge) to Kildare
County Council Library & Arts Services at the time of publication.
8. Applications for work in retrospect will not be considered
9. Awards will be made by an independent adjudication panel
10. All applicants will be advised of Councils decisions in writing.
11. The payment of a grant is not taken as an indication that the equivalent of any grant will be
made to the organiser on another occasion.
12. All applications must be accompanied by

 A current biography and/ or cv, outlining details of career to date (individuals) or a
schedule of previous publishing experience (groups)
 A clear outline of the content of the proposed publication.
 A schedule for research, printing and publishing stages
 A breakdown of the project cost, including quotations for design and print. Evidence of
matching funding available.
