To the parents or guardians of Current and Future Rambler Youth Football Players:
Believe it or not the 2011- 2012 school year is quickly coming to an end and as the 2012 football season draws closer when can begin to
prepare to get back to doing what we love – playing the great game of football! This letter is being sent to inform you of some important
things that will be happening before this school year is over and some exciting things happening towards the end of the summer.
Youth football sign-ups are scheduled for Saturday, May 19th from 10:00am to 12:00, Tuesday, May 22th from 6:00pm to 8:00 and
Wednesday, May 23th from 6:00pm to 8:00. Sign-ups will be held in the Boyne City High School Media Center. For registration, parents
should bring a copy of your players Birth Certificate and Copy of a current Physical Card (Original should be on file with the BCPS Athletic
Office). Free sports physicals are available through the school on Thursday, May 10 th for all students entering 5th grade and up. It is not
necessary that you have a physical before registration – but payers must have one on file with BCPS and we must have a copy before they
will be allowed to participate in the fall.
• PHYSICALS MUST BE TURNED IN (on file with high school athletic office) PRIOR TO YOUR CHILD STARTING PRACTICE!
• To facilitate easier communication between our staff and the players’ parents or guardians, we have requested additional contact information from you. We
ask that you include email addresses and phone contact information for both parents and/or guardians, if possible.
• The registration fee for Boyne Youth Football for 2012 is $80. We are a member of the Lake Michigan Conference of Middle schools and the Traverse City
YMCA Pop Warner. Part of our fees ($45 per player) goes to the YMCA organization to cover insurance, scheduling, paying referees, etc. The additional $35
covers the use of equipment for our players and yearly equipment upgrades and replacement.
• The Youth Football Camp at the Boyne City High School is scheduled for July 30 th and 31st. Camp informational/registration brochures will be distributed
at sign-ups. This year’s camp is available to anyone entering grades 3-8.
• OUR FIRST PRIORITY WILL BE THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD!!!
With that in mind, Boyne City Youth Football spends a substantial amount of money each year on equipment and we greatly
appreciate your assistance in keeping track of this equipment throughout the season. Your player will be issued equipment
(helmet, shoulder pads, pants/girdle and soft pads) and will be responsible for replacing any lost equipment at the end of the
year. The only equipment you are responsible to purchase is a pair of football cleats and a game jersey (for new players’ only
– former players will be using their jersey from last year unless you need a new one).
Division Age Weight Weight (End of Season)
Jr. Pee Wee 8, 9, 10 60-108 lbs. 118 lbs.
(older/lighter) 11 60-88 lbs. 98 lbs.
Jr. Midget 10, 11, 12 90-145 lbs. 148 lbs.
(older/lighter) 13 90-120 lbs. 128 lbs.
Middle School 13, 14 no weight requirements
*There is a new push by the YMCA/TCPW Rules committee to have 7 th graders play on Middle School Teams (7th and 8th graders) and
reduce the number of older/lighter players. The attempt is to create teams of only 3 rd -4th graders (Jr. PW), 5th-6th graders (Jr. Midgets) and
7th-8th (middle school). We will make every effort to meet these standards along with working with our own athletes – please see us at the
sign-ups if you have any questions.
On behalf of the entire Boyne Youth Football Program, I want to thank you for making the decision to participate in our
program for the 2012 football season. Our primary focus is to provide a safe and enjoyable opportunity for your family and
instill life long habits such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical activity.
