                                                February 15, 2012

Meeting was called to order in the Library Media Room at Conant at 6:05 p.m.

Welcome: Co-Presidents Maggie Andress and Julie Rhodes greeted everyone. 17 people attended.

Recording Secretary – Barb Zaucha: Motion to approve January’s minutes was requested and approved. Charlene
motioned and Sandy approved.

Principal’s Report – Tim Cannon: A lot is going on at Conant. Winter sports are coming to an end. Boys’
swimming won the conference; Girls’ Gymnastics sent a girl to state; Girls’ Varsity Basketball is hosting regionals
and won their first game in an upset; JV Cheerleaders came in 5th at state; JV Charelles were 1st at state; Varsity
Charelles go to state in two weeks; Some of the other events that are coming up include: Dancing with the Cougar
Stars; the winter dance; the musical is next week; there will be an assembly on Friday; we had 2 kids named
honorable mention by the Daily Herald for it’s leadership team.

Activity Director – Jerry Trevino: Not present.

Athletic Director – John Kane: Not present.

President’s Report – Maggie Andress and Julie Rhodes: Dinner Dance was a success. We are recommending
that we do it again next year, but maybe change the date to the first or second week of November. We need a new
chair for this committee. We will go back to the Seville because the food was good and the price is reasonable. They
are still working on the numbers, but hope for a profit between $8,000 and $10,000. We will be looking for help for
the post-prom activities. Scholarship Committee needs a new chair. Channel 7 wants to do a morning show on the
Conant Cheerleaders on February 21st from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. There will be a basketball shooting contest for
students participating in Operation ClickIt and they can win a car. The Booster Club is the sponsor for this event.
Mr. Cannon mentioned that we have won school of the year for 2 years for having most students involved in the
ClickIt or Ticket program. The District is considering an option to offer to new parents of students who move into
the District during the school year so that they can join the Booster Club or even change their minds about Booster
Club having their contact info.

Vice President – Sandy Lomas: Mini grants start end of March.

Co-Treasurers – Sue Katano/Chris Marasigan: Nothing to report.

Corresponding Secretary – Michelle Overby: Two deaths occurred this month: Rosalie Shallcross’ (Technology
Department) father passed away and Justin Bickus’ (Art Department) father passed away. Michelle Overby’s
father-in-law passed away this past Sunday.


Banner: Nothing to report.

Bricks: Nothing to report.

Concessions- Laurie Biesterfield and Chris Marasigan: We have the opportunity to run concessions for the
Sophomore boys’ basketball. An eblast went out asking for volunteers. The tournament is Monday (Feb 20 th) from
3:00-6:00; Thursday (Feb 23rd) from 4:30-6:30 and 6:30 to 8: 00; Friday (Feb 24th) from 3:00-6:00; and Saturday
(Feb 25th) from 9:00 to 1:00.

Cotton Candy – Mary Weaver-Gouwens: Not present.

Craft Fair – Tracy Gebhardt: Not present.

Craft Fair Concessions –Darlene Gosiewski: Not present, but Maggie said that we potentially have somebody to
run the committeet next year.
Dances – Cheri Sutton and Jen Savarino: 57 single and 38 couple tickets have been sold as of February 15th.
They are pretty good on volunteers. We expect ticket sales to be better later in the week. Mr. Behnken is hoping for
700 in attendance.

Dinner Dance – Marita Gomez: Please refer to the Presidents’ report.

eScript: Chris Marasigan: Nothing to report.

Food 4 Less – Chris Marasigan: We received our October through December check in the amount of $308.96.

Fundraisers – Lisa Gentry: Old business: Georgio’s Pizza’s total sales of $45.00 with a profit of $4.50; we
declined. Meatheads had a total sales of $400 with a profit of $50.

California Pizza Kitchen: $42.87 profit

Monday, January 23rd McDonald’s in Woodfield: $0 in sales so no profit

Tuesday, February 7th Lou Malnati’s (we don’t have a figure yet)

Wednesday, March 7th Chipolte cancelled with us so we are changing to Pasta Mia

April and May not scheduled yet

Grill – Shari Andress: Not present.

Hospitality – Dawn Blackford: Wednedsay, March 14th is Winter Sports Awards. She is looking for volunteers
for helping with cookies.

Market Day – Tracy Gebhardt: No report.

Membership – Theresa Sulentic & Charlene Bryeans: Nothing new.

Newsletter – Karen Posch Wojtas: The newsletter will go out the first week of April.

Post-Prom – Lisa Locascio: Somewhere Only We Know is the motto with a tropical theme. Post prom tickets will
correspond to the tee shirt design. The ticket design will go off to the printer by the end of the month. 25% bus
deposit has been paid. The post prom bus sponsor forms will go out in a mailing. Do an eblast asking for donations.
Lisa is revising the sponsor letters to $700 sponsor whole bus or $350 to sponsor half a bus (reduced due to
favorable bus pricing we obtained). Mailing will go out first week of March. Put in the newsletter also. We are still
scheduling a date for the prom fair. We need volunteers for post-prom.

Scholarship – Bonnie Murtagh & Martha Rose: Applications are out and extras have been made. Completed
forms are due back March 9th.

Spiritwear – Dina Boland or Laurie Biesterfeld: February sales in the cafeteria were slow. Sports informational
night is a good time to sell.

Volunteer Coordinator – Karen Posch Wojtas: Nothing to report.

Web Page Coordinator – Karen Posch Wojtas: Nothing to report.
