“Computers”, the first time I heard this word was way back in the sixth grade when my
school had just started a special course on Computer Programming. To get enlisted in this
course was not easy, with few computers and so many eager students, but I prevailed and
was in. By then, I had learnt to program in BASIC, but little did I know that those basics
would eventually form the very roots of my career.

My interest towards the field of Networking blossomed when I was working under
Professor Dilip Motwani for presenting review papers on Security in TCP/IP and
Congestion Control in TCP/IP. In fact, after reading many research and review papers on
these topics, I cannot help but feel excited about the potential of new research in these
areas. The desire to initiate myself into fundamental research in the field of Networking
and to have a deeper insight and wider exposure to the field of my choice is the sole
purpose for taking up Postgraduate Studies.

I have always believed that it is not only the grades that will take you places, but rather
your grades and extra curricular activities. Hence, I have always tried to maintain a good
balance in academics and extra curricular activities. My presentation on “Computer
Networking and Routing Protocols” was highly appreciated by my professors and fellow
students. I was the captain of my college cricket team and also served in Students Council
of the college as a member. In addition, I have also served voluntarily in various
committees at community level.

It is my belief that one continues to learn throughout one’s life, and the most effective
Method of learning is through interaction with others. The diversity at your esteem
University provides an environment for learning, both inside the classroom. I hope to
share my varied knowledge with my classmates and to take from them a new
understanding of topics that are foreign to me. I believe that no other school provides
students with the combination of education and environment offered at your university. I
have many ambitions for myself as I embark on this stage of my life. I wish to earn MS
degree in Digital Communication Network and intend to follow this with a Ph.D., and
later, a career in research facilities and computing resource.

India is a developing country with enormous potential in the IT business. To serve the
needs of this developing industry and more importantly its vast population, computer
communication is going to be of utmost importance. Thus conditions here are very
conducive to supplement my aspirations when I return after completing my studies.
