Module description

Module 1 aims to provide the participants with the foundational knowledge of Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) including the different ICT terminologies. Further, it aims to equip
the participants on the basic skills on managing files and applications.


Objectives

At the end of the day, the participants will be able to:

       1. Explain the different ICT terminologies
       2. Identify the different hardware and software components of a computer and how they work
           together
       3. Discuss networking/communication technology
       4. Operate a computer
       5. Arrange and customize the desktop
       6. Manage applications
       7. Manage files
       8. Manage a printer
       9. Troubleshoot computer
       10. Manage documents
       11. Format text

Module description

Module 2 aims to provide the participants with the basic skills on internet usage of basic search
engines and internet services.

At the end of the day, the participants will be able to:

       2.   Access the Web
       3.   Use bookmarks
       4.   Search the Web
       5.   Download and upload files
       6.   Create, send and receive emails
       7.   Create address book
       8.   Organize messages

Topic: Module 3: Responsible Use of ICT                                                 (total time: 8 hours)

Module description

Module 3 aims to enhance the level of awareness and skills of the participants on responsible and
ethical use of ICT.


Objectives

At the end of the day, the participants will be able to:

         1.   Understand personal property and user rights
         2.   Understand the concept of software piracy and violation of copyright laws
         3.   Recognize examples of copyright violations, computer fraud possible penalties
         4.   Apply common courtesies and acceptable use policies while telecomputing
         5.   Apply fundamental principles of computer security


Methodology: Lecture, Film-showing, Discussions, Forums, Comics, Role-playing, Magazines and tabloids,
case studies, processing of activities (e.g., online treasure hunt) (note: depending on the need of the group)
