“From Scratch” 751G DPAS SOFTWARE INSTALL

If user keeps getting errors after installing the software to their PDCD such as:




Use these steps for a total re-install.
**Make sure the user doesn’t have anything on the PDCD they need to
keep!!**
These steps take PDCD back to factory settings!!!!!!!!!!!
First step:
Make sure Enable Registry Storage is unchecked on the PCDC.

On PCDC Start  Control Panel  Utilities  Registry save tab  Make sure Enable
Registry Storage is unchecked  Enable RTC Restore can be checked


Step 2:
Take out battery and hold reset button for one minute.

The reset button is a soft circle located towards the right of the battery compartment.

The PCDC will re-boot.
Step 3:
While PCDC is re-booting, have user download PCDC software to their PC.

Open DPAS Tech Refresh
AIT  PDCD Sftwr Install
751G Win CE.net  Continue
****IMPORTANT****
Make sure the Disable “Take a Pctr” is CHECKED.
Select Download.
Save to local specific location or someplace that you can find file after download.
Step 4:
ActiveSync
To be safe, I would have user un-install and re-install ActiveSync. It has solved
problems in the past.


Click the following Download link to access the ActiveSync Download website:
Download (Hold CTRL + Left Click)

--OR--

Visit www.microsoft.com and search for ActiveSync.


Click the Accept and Download button




Click RUN
Click RUN (If not prompted by security warning, skip to STEP 5)




Click Next
Click into the radio button to the left of I accept the terms in the license agreement
Click Next




Enter your Agency/Organization Name into User Name:
Enter your Agency/Organization Name into Organization:
Click Next
Click Next




Click Install
Click Finish




Step 5:
Tranfer Cab file to PDCD

From your desktop go to ActiveSync  Tools  Explore Devices (this opens the files on
the pda)  Mobile Device  Open Program Files

Locate the file WCE.CAB on your desktop

Click and drag --or-- right click, copy and paste the WCE.CAB file from your desktop to
the Program Files folder on the mobile device  Copy File

If you encounter this message, click OK to continue.
Step 6:
To be safe: ***Remove PDCD from Cradle***
The connection to the PC sometimes interrupts the software install resulting in an error.

On the PDCD:
My Computer  Program Files  Double Click on WCE File  Click OK button in the
upper right hand corner  Wait for files to load
If the PDA reboots, wait for the install screen to come up and select OK until installation
is finished.

DPAS is now installed go to Start > Programs and select DPASAIT

This step should not be needed since we did this at the beginning, but just in case:

Users may see a box that says Settings at the top. If so, they need to make sure the box
for Enable Registry Storage is unchecked. If you would like to check this setting after the
install is complete, please complete the following:

Start
Settings
Control Panel
Utilities
Registry save tab
Make sure Enable Registry Storage is unchecked
Enable RTC Restore can be checked
