                                      GOVERNING BOARD

                                             REGULAR MEETING

                                        Tuesday, September 12, 2012
                                       6:00 p.m. - District Board Room



               When necessary, the Board may go into Executive Session intermittently throughout the meeting
                       for discussion and consultation for legal advice regarding any of the agenda items
                      (A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(3)). The Board may also go into Executive Session to discuss
                 personnel matters (A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(1)), records exempt by law from public inspection
              (A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(2)), or for legal advice and consultation regarding pending or contemplated
                   litigation (A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(4)). The Board reserves the right to change the order of
                                    items on the Agenda and to call matters in random order.

 4. PUBLIC INPUT - The total length of time scheduled for public discussion shall not
    exceed 30 minutes. Individual speakers shall not exceed 5 minutes (Policy BEDH).
    If members of the public choose to address the Board at this time, they will be
    asked to come to the podium, state their name and speak clearly so that their
    comments can be properly recorded. This is an appropriate time to address Action
    Items prior to Board discussion or items not on the agenda.

 5. STUDENT, STAFF, AND BOARD RECOGNITION

         Staff Recognition

         a.      New employees to the district will be introduced to the Board.

         b.    The district will recognize Round Valley bus drivers for their
               efforts in transporting students daily.

 6. REPORTS

         A.      Administrator/Supervisor Reports

                 Administrator’s will report on their trip to the Vail school district.

         B.      Board Report

                 Board members will report on their attendance to the ASBA Law
                 Conference in Scottsdale, AZ, September 6 & 7, 2012.

         C.      Superintendent’s Report

                 Superintendent Travis Udall will update Board members on district
                 projects and events.

 7. ACTION ITEMS

         A.    Approve Round Valley High School Early Graduation Requests

               RVHS seniors who meet the requirements and would like to graduate
               early must be approved by the Board.

         B.    Approve Opening UTube Web Page for Staff Use

               Because there is a lot of information on the UTube website for teachers,
               staff members are requesting to be allowed access to the site on the
               school computers for educational purposes. IT Director Merrell Hamblin
               is requesting Board approval to allow access from 3:30-7:30 p.m.
               Monday through Thursday.

         C.    Approve Out of State Travel for the National FFA Convention

               The High School VoAg teacher is requesting Board approval to take
               some students to the National FFA Convention October 23-27, 2012,
               in Indianapolis, Indiana. The trip will be funded by American

               West Potash and Round Valley FFA student raised funds.

         D.    Discuss and Approve ASBA Top Ten Priorities

               Arizona School Board Association has requested School Board’s around
               the state to choose and approve their top ten priorities for the ASBA’s
               political agenda for the upcoming year. Board members will choose
               their top ten priorities from a list provided by ASBA.

 8. DISCUSSION ITEMS

         A.      Enrollment

                         Current as of September 4, 2012 __1357___ - includes White
                         Mountain Academy (WMA) students)

                          (1) Last year – September, 2011 ___1398___ - includes White
                              Mountain Academy (WMA) students)

                             Down from last year in September by 41 students.

         B.    Round Valley Electronic Signs

               Superintendent Udall will update Board members on the progress of
               the district’s electronic signs and usage policies.

         C.    Budget Override

               Board members will be updated on the efforts to communicate with
               community members on the upcoming budget override election.

 9.   CONSENT ITEMS (These are routine items generally not requiring Board
      discussion)

               (1)       Approve Vouchers Signed Between Meetings

               (2)       Approve Monthly Financial Statements

         C. Approve the 2013 Capital Plan for the State of Arizona School Facilities
            Board

               The District is required to submit a capital plan to the School Facilities
               Board each year. Since the District is not requesting any new
               construction of buildings, they only need to submit enrollment
               information and projections. It is required that the Governing Board
               approve this plan.

         D. Personnel Matters

               (1)       Resignations/Retirements

               (2)       Approve Certified Staff for 2012-2013 School Year

                         Three Substitute Teachers

               (3)       Approve Classified Staff for 2012-2013 School Year

                         a. Special Ed. Aide

               (4)       Approve Recommendations for Extra Curricular and Volunteer
                         Assignments for 2012-2013 at Round Valley High School and
                         Round Valley Middle School.
