Central Nine Career Center
Rules & Code of Ethics Relating to Computer Users
Internet access is now available to students & staff members at Central Nine Career Center. Our goal in providing this
service is to promote educational excellence by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication.
The Internet is an electronic highway connecting thousands of computers all over the world and millions of individual
subscribers. Students and staff members have access to:
Electronic mail communication with people all over the world
Public domain software and shareware of all types
Discussion groups on a wide range of topics ranging from international business, to the environment, to politics,
to computer technology
Access to many university library catalogs and the Library of Congress
Today's accessibility to computers and people all over the world bring with it availability of material that may not be
considered to be of educational value. On a global network it is impossible to control all materials and information.
Eventually, users may discover some information to be controversial. We at Central Nine firmly believe that the
educational benefits of this informational interaction on the world wide network far outweighs the negative reaction of
improper material handling.
Internet access is coordinated through a complex association of government agencies and regional/state networks. In
addition, the smooth operation of the network relies upon the proper conduct of the end users who must adhere to strict
terms and conditions. These terms and conditions are provided here so that the end user is aware of his/her
responsibilities. A computer user who violates these terms and conditions shall lose computer privileges, may be
suspended from school, and may be subject to applicable penalties of law.
All users shall be held financially liable for any damages as a result of the user's misuse of computer privileges. The
Technology Coordinator of Central Nine Career Center is monitoring the web browser used to access web pages.
The signature at the end of this document is legally binding and indicates the party who signed has read the terms and
