student is given two attempts to receive a passing score of eighty percent or above.
Attendance:
Attendance is not an option; it is mandatory and is used as a portion of the final grade.
Completion of the skills covered in the lab is part of the requirements to successfully
pass. If a class period is missed the skills learned and evaluated must be made up with the
instructor during a time other than the normally scheduled lab time. Failure to complete
the skills within the specified time frame will result in an “unsatisfactory” lab grade and
dismissal from the program. With permission of the instructor students may attend
additional lab classes or switch lab days.
Assignments:
Most assignments will be done as a part of the class lab, however various outside
assignments will be given, as the instructor deems necessary. All assignments are due at
the next scheduled class period, unless otherwise specified. If an assignment is late and
an extension has not been issued, 10% of the total points will be deducted each day up to
the 5th day. No credit will be given after 5 days, however the assignment must still be
completed and turned in to meet class requirements.
Examinations:
The only examination given will be the final lab assessment the last two weeks of the
semester. The final exam must be passed with an 80% or above to continue in the Dental
Assisting Program.
Grading Scale:
The skills laboratory accounts for 35% of the total grade received in DENA 101.
Attendance, competency sheet scores and the final exam are used to determine the grade
received. The final exam must be passed with an 80% or above to continue in the Dental
Assisting Program.
