               The Organization
               World sport leaders, hockey Canada is the governing body for hockey in Canada and a member
               of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), with a membership through its 13 provincial
               branch associations of over 700,000 players, coaches and officials. The IIHF Ice Hockey
               Women's World Championship is a major international sporting event and festival that showcases
               the highest level of women’s hockey in the world. Eight international teams will be competing for
               the IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship. Those teams are; Canada, USA,
               Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Russia, Germany and the Czech Republic. The right to host the
               2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship (WWC) has been granted to Ottawa in
               association with Senators Sport and Entertainment (SSE) and the Ontario Women’s Hockey
               Association (OWHA). The event will take place from April 2 to 9, 2013. The event organization is
               being led by the 2013 Women's World Host Organizing Committee (HOC).

               Position Summary
               Based at Hockey Canada’s office in Ottawa and reporting to the General Manager (GM), 2013
               WWC. Intern position is available between September 10, 2012 and April 26, 2013. Hours of work
               will be between two and three days per week. Evening and weekends may be required. Will
               need to be available full time between March 28 – April 10, 2013.
               .

               Primary Responsibilities
                        Liaise with the GM and HOC to plan, coordinate and execute the promotion of ticket
                         sales as outlined in the bid and marketing plans.
                        Develop segmented marketing plans for identified groups.
                        Prepare event plans to be circulated to the Marketing and Media divisions.
                        Execute events plans.
                        Work with the Promotions Intern to ensure promo teams are in attendance at events.
                        Complete creative briefs for Hockey Canada in order to marketing collateral.
                        Administer printing or production of marketing collateral.
                        Assist with event reporting and inventory control.
                        Any other duties as related to the 2013 WWC.

               Essential Skills and Qualifications
                        Applicant must be working towards a diploma or degree in a sport related field.
                        Knowledge of and experience in the operations of sporting or special events.
                        Excellent people skills and ability to work as a team player, particularly to interact
                         effectively with both internal and external stakeholders of the event.
                        Excellent time management and communication (oral & written) skills.
                        Ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high pressure environment.
                        Dynamic, hardworking, confident, a go-getter, with drive and initiative.
                        Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and a high level of computer literacy.
                        Consideration will be given to applicants fluent in both official languages (oral and written
                         communication).
