SDR School Forest Advisory Committee Minutes
Meeting – July 25, 2012
Present: Bob LeFebvre, Krista Matyska, Carol Carlson, Kelli Jacobi, Cheryl Esslinger, Mike Wojtusik, Adam
Matyska, and Glenn Witmer
Meeting called to order at 9:00 a.m. (Approved agenda by voice vote).
Motion by Glenn Witmer, seconded by Adam Matyska to approve minutes from June 27, 2012.

There is still a lot of work that needs to be done before the building is complete. Kelli is going to talk to
David Ditzler, RHS principal requesting the building trades class work and finish the building the month of
The following major items still need to be completed
1. Tile floors grouted and sealed in the foyer, bathrooms, and storage area.
2. Railing on the deck needs to be installed and stained.
3. Bathrooms need to be functional- partitions installed.
4. Inspections need to be completed.
5. Defibrillator installed.
6. Fire extinguishers installed in the new building.
7. Fire arms signs posted.
8. Paint 2 large steel cabinets that will be used in the storage room.
9. Storage room needs to be completed in its entirety.
Jeff will have his staff install 6x6 beams on the old part of the deck. Also, install the 220 volt outlet in the
ROPES Building – Jeff will arrange for power to the building.
Mike Wojtusik will be working on the landscaping around the buildings. Estimated cost $1500.00 - $2000.00. Bob
will contact local landscaping companies for donations.
Ski Trail Development
Trails are in and complete. Manny will arrange to seed the trails. Approximately 30 pounds of clover should cover
Moving ROPES Building
The building has been moved. Because of the difficulty in moving the building, Brain Bart charged $200.00 for his
All of the sales are complete. Manny will work on a couple smaller sales to continue generating income. It was also
decided to put the “Log a Load for Kids” program on hold for now. We will revisit the program at a later time.
The following candidates will be interviewed Monday, July 30th. Terry Grams, Alex Bontz, Clarence Paszak, and
Community Open House
The open house will be Saturday, September 29th. Kim Swisher, Community Education Coordinator will provide the
food for the event. Krista Matyska, along with the help from all committee members will organize the events and
program for the day. Further discussion and planning at future meetings.
Bob informed the committee we received $2500.00 from the Lumberjack Grant he submitted. This will be used for
display cases in the foyer.
Bob and committee members will start working on another Lumberjack Grant. Bob suggested we apply for the
monies to be used for blacktop.
Next meeting – August 15, 2012 @ 9:00 a.m. - School Forest Educational Environmental Center, with cleanup
projects after the meeting.
