Job Title Level 1 Technician
Scale/Salary (Sep 2012) CLF8 £20,335 - £22,302 [pro-rata]
Reports To Network Manager
Scope of Role To work alongside all ICT service colleagues to provide 1st line reactive support
to ICT incidents with a specified academy location.
Purpose As defined in the Framework for ICT Technical Support, this role will be
primarily responsible for reactive processes, whilst also assisting with proactive
processes as required.
Main responsibilities To ensure that hardware and software audits are maintained and that a
knowledge base is kept on hardware and software systems accordingly.
To provide 1st line support for all network systems supported. Acting to
prioritising incidents based on the dynamics of the academy day and
such that the key performance metrics of the academy service level
agreements are met.
To maintain all ICT user end devices within the academy, including but
not limited to desktop and laptop workstations, computer peripherals,
local and network printers, interactive whiteboards and projectors.
To ensure appropriate processes are followed when making minor
changes to systems that include but not limited to application
installation, user management and computer management.
Create and track orders for new hardware and software as required.
Liaise with 3rd parties and attend CLF meetings as required to provide
input on outstanding issues and project requirements.
Contribute to the development and refreshment of the network
systems as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Have experience of:-
Experience Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 servers, including Active Directory
Antivirus system management. (ESSET NOD32 or similar)
Installation and configuration of Windows XP and 7.
Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
Any Linux systems for general Linux management.
Education software including but not limited to Moodle, Impero and
Promethean ActiveStudio or similar.
Classroom technologies including but not limited to interactive
whiteboards, projectors, basic computer hardware diagnostics.
Desktop and laptop hardware repairs.
Preferred Experience Thin client technology (Citrix XenApp).
Virtualization technology (Microsoft HyperV, XenServer).
Apple Computers and devices.
DNS and DHCP / IP address management.
Patching and experience with switches.
Desirable Experience AV theatre production skills
