make the Internet a great and safe place
for children”.

Childnet works in 3 main areas of:

WHAT IS THE CABLE & WIRELESS
CHILDNET ACADEMY?
The initiative, which builds on the success of the Cable & Wireless
Childnet Awards programme, recognises the outstanding creativity of
young people who continue to develop innovative Internet projects,
which bring positive benefit to other young people worldwide.

The unique week-long Academy provides:

* specialist web support
* leadership training
* technical advice to some of the best young web developers from
  around the world
PRIZES
Academy winners will receive:

* an all-expenses paid trip for 2 people to attend
  the Academy week, which will take place in
  JAMAICA in Spring 2004

* 2000 pounds sterling prize money
* training from international Internet experts
* ongoing online and offline support to develop
  their projects
Academy winner 2004:

“Never have I felt so involved, excited and appreciated. The encouragement to
excel was what I needed to fully enjoy the Academy. The experiences I gained
and the memories I hold are ones which will stay with me forever. It was an
amazing time!”

Last years winners came to London
from all around the world: Australia, India, Jamaica, Italy, The Netherlands,
Panama, USA, England, Ireland, Taiwan and Scotland.
HOW DO YOU ENTER THE
ACADEMY COMPETITION?
Step 1 Go to the Childnet Academy website
       (www.childnetacademy.org) & read the
       criteria for the competition.

Step 2 Enter your project (or idea) via the
       online entry form.

Step 3 The panel of judges will announce the
       winners in January 2005.
