                                Hertford – Northampton
                  2012 4-H Livestock Show and Sale!

               Youth from Hertford, Northampton and Bertie Counties
                               are invited to participate!
                   Learn responsibility and animal husbandry, financial
                 management, record keeping and public speaking skills
                                 AND HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!
                                   Youth ages 5-19 are invited to participate.
                                  Youth may show pigs, goats, lambs or steer.

              There are Livestock Show and Sale meetings that are held every month.
                         These meeting are necessary to inform families of
                      requirements and to vote on how the show will be run.

                      Meetings are usually held the first Monday of every month at
                       the Murfree Center located on Broad Street, Murfreesboro.

         Upcoming scheduled meetings will be held the following days at 7pm:
               Tues, March 6th ~ Mon, April 2nd ~ Mon, May 7th
                 (March date changed due to conflict)

                                          Things to Remember:
         Participant’s “intent to compete” forms are due in the 4-H office by MARCH 1st, 2012 at 5pm.
                          Contact your local Cooperative Extension Office for a copy.

        Remember that Steers have to be “on the farm” by March 15th. All other animals must be “on
                                        the farm” by April 15th.

         All participants must take part in a Livestock Show and Sale Meat Quality Assurance (MQA)
       Training Meeting. All first time participants must attend MQA trainings in order to
    compete in the Livestock show. All returning participants must attend an MQA training
     every other year in order to continue to participate. Youth are also encouraged to attend
   the following: Project Record Book Clinic, Fitting and Showmanship Clinic. Dates and locations TBA.

           Please call your local Cooperative Extension Office as soon as possible if you would like
                   an information packet or have questions about obtaining an animal.
