S173-2012 ‘Kids Dream Day’ – Supporting the Isabella and Marcus
Paediatric Brainstem Tumour Fund
Victorian primary school children are encouraged to take part in Kids Dream Day to
raise funds for world-first research into paediatric brainstem tumours.
A gold coin donation on the day will support the Isabella and Marcus Paediatric
Brainstem Tumour Fund to raise $5 million by 2015 to establish an endowed chair at
the University of Melbourne with a laboratory in the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer
Centre, to conduct research into nature of these tumours, develop novel treatments
and participate in international clinical trials.
The Hon. Martin Dixon MP, Minister for Education, is patron of the fund and will
officially launch Kids Dream Day at Thomas Mitchell Primary School in Endeavour
Hills (where Isabella attended) on 8 May 2012.
Children are encouraged to dress up as ‘what they want to be when they grow up’.
Principals are encouraged to run their own Kids Dream Day at their school on a
day of their choice.
Principals are encouraged to distribute the attached letter and flyer to the school
community, which explains the fundraiser Kids Dream Day and provides details
about the Isabella and Marcus Fund and paediatric brainstem tumours.
The Minister for Education will launch Kids Dream Day on Tuesday 8 May 2012.
Primary school principals can choose their own day on which to run the Kids Dream
Isabella and Marcus died from a brainstem tumour known as a Diffuse Intrinsic
