Create Your Own Shakespearean Sonnet (25 Points)
Using the two sonnets we have read as a guide, construct your own Shakespearean style sonnet. You may want
to refer to your sheet on Shakespearean sonnets to remind you of all the elements a sonnet must have. Also, the
tools that are on that sheet as to how you analyze a sonnet may be helpful in constructing the sonnet. If you use
the tools in reverse, you should be able to construct a product very similar to that of a Shakespearean sonnet.
Remember that poetry consists not only of lines but also of sentences. If your poetry has sentences, there is a
greater chance your sonnet will be understood.

Requirements:

1. Meter (5 Points): Is in iambic pentameter and follows the proper rhyme scheme.
2. 3 quatrains (5 Points): all of which are ended with some type of punctuation.
3. 1 couplet (5 Points): Make sure it is a response to the rest of the sonnet.
4. Theme (5 Points): Contains 1 unified, easily distinguishable theme.
5. Figurative Language (5 Points): Such as a simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration, hyperbole, etc.
