o Today was count day for October-286 student (not including TEACH and LEARN
o Construction on 26th Avenue has not been impacting school very much.
o Curriculum night was well attended. Most classes had at least half of their parents
there. Talked about curriculum and family math night coming up on Oct. 23rd. Parent
comments were all positive, seemed to like hearing about expectations, Daily 5 and goal
setting conferences. Parents would like more warning, especially about bringing kids.
o Lice problem has mostly cleared up.
o Completing MAPS testing this week 2nd-5th grade-Many schools unable to test due to
problems logging on, therefore 2nd grade PATS program is on hold until all 2nd graders
can be tested.
o Technology Committee at district is being blended so each school will have a staff
representative. Discussions will focus on hardware, software, and teacher/student
o Master Schedule-designed to improve instruction by having more uninterrupted
learning time. Worked through some glitches including lunch schedules during the first
month. Then Maureen received notice that Debbie Lee, our technology specialist, has
submitted her resignation. There will not be a new technology teacher hired, rather
more para-educator time will be hired for supervision. We will return to the old
“learning lab” format, creating a 65 minute block for recess/lunch/learning lab. P.E.
and Music specialist schedule will stay the same, library, social skills, and technology
schedules may change. The new schedule will go into effect next week.
o Brown’s World had 12 volunteers-100% of kids participated, 87% of kids passed in
o 5th Grade working on landforms and erosion-project on campus, environmental hikes,
integrating kids in math so that they’re meeting students needs.
o Enrichment-Jeanette Killip drafting plan in following categories: Assemblies / Content
areas-ideas from teachers / Grade Level Specific areas
o Carolyn Elliott-New Office/Health Room assistant, came from Pioneer
Long Range Objective-Parent Survey Plan:
o Feb-Tallied and compiled
o March/April-Synopsis distributed back to parents, Reviewed by staff
