Missouri State University PIP/PIEC Minutes September 8, 2005 The following people were in attendance: Mike Jungers, Assistant Dean of Students Tammy Tindle, Counseling and Testing Center Clinician Larry Combs, Public Safety Officer Earle Doman, Dean of Students Sarah Cole Jerilyn Reed, Wellness Educator Dixie Sullenger, Asst Director Student Activities Casey Terry Plank, Administrative Secretary Judicial Programs Dixie discussed the University of Missouri PIP/PIEC meeting she and Larry attended in August. Reviewed: -Changes to financial distribution process, financial forms online possibly this October -Smart Server training expanded – 148 total establishments plus stadiums now -Law enforcement training over the summer -New parents brochures to be available -Working on tobacco grant for the state -Reviewed CORE Survey results. Missouri State did well overall -Discussed new alcohol laws -Possibly create our own Missouri State University Core Survey Larry discussed the Drive Safe Drive Smart campaign September 12 – 16. Set up will begin at 8:00 am. Students will sign pledge cards. There will be PIP door prizes including Silver Dollar City tickets, campus meals, and gift certificates. Dixie suggested putting together a group to send tips and notices to the emails on the pledge cards with the option to unsubscribe. Mike announced that he and Jerilyn would be going to the Social Norms Drive-In Workshop tomorrow, Friday, September 9th. They will be meeting with Dr. Wesley Perkins, that morning at 7:00 am. National Hazing Prevention Week. Tammy announced that they are putting together a book discussion on “Pledged”. NPHC is holding an open forum chapter members. Also, IFC program will be September 27 at 7:00 pm and will be open to general public. Fraternity panel presentation discussing hazing. Casey discussed John Underwood’s “Life as an Athlete”. Everyone thought it was a great success and were very happy with his presentations. Missouri State University PIP/PIEC Minutes September 8, 2005 Page 2 Mike discussed he and Stephanie talking with the coaches about the new alcohol laws and disciplinary issues. Dixie discussed GAMMA – first meeting on Monday. Jerilyn is expressing interest in possibly doing a BACCUS group here. CHEERS now has 26 establishments participating. Will be advertising through future events. Mike announced that the Underage Drinking Task Force would like a representative from Missouri State to attend the monthly meetings. Dr. Doman discussed the planning group’s work in progress on the late night alternative programs. Recently met with the Campus Ministries at The Hub, a new non-alcoholic, evening gathering place for students. Dixie discussed concern for alcohol being given away at the Bear Fest Village. This is to be discussed with Gary Snavely. Jerilyn discussed her work in progress on the Sexual Assault Prevention with tentative date of September 21st. This would be open to the general public.
