Our Lady of Victories School
9th September 2011
It was lovely to see so many of you at Mass this morning and the children are settling
really well into their new classes and back into the school routine. We would like to
extend a special welcome to Miss Cooke in Year 5 and to all the new children and their
families who have joined us this week. We also very much look forward to the arrival of
our Reception class next week.
We are delighted to announce another new arrival! We have recently heard that Mrs
Hastings, our former Year 3 teacher, has given birth to a beautiful baby girl – Lauren.
We wish them every joy and happiness, and, hopefully, not too many sleepless nights!
While on the subject of all things new, it has been a pleasure to see how smart so many
of the children have looked in their uniform. However, please could I put in a plea for all
items of clothing or personal property to be clearly labelled. It is surprising how quickly
the lost property box seems to take on a life of its own.
Swimming and Games
The juniors have started swimming this week: Years 5 and 6 on Monday, Year 3 on
Wednesday and Year 4 on Thursday. For the first half of this term, Years 5 and 6 will
be going to the playing fields on Tuesday, so will need to ensure that they have their
trainers and kit on that day. Also, as the weather is so changeable, all children will need
to bring a coat or waterproof to school.
Year 6 parents will have received the Council’s transfer booklets, in which details are
given of the meetings to be held at the Town Hall next week on Tuesday 13th and
Wednesday 14th, 7pm-8:15pm, in the Civic Suite, Wandsworth Town Hall. We will be
holding our own meeting for Year 6 parents in school next Thursday 15th September at
2pm in order to discuss the process and share information.
Please find attached our latest list of important dates for the forthcoming academic year,
also available on the school website at www.ourladyofvictories.wandsworth.sch.uk
Finally, I look forward to meeting many of you this afternoon at our informal Meet and
Greet session and to the exciting year ahead.
With best wishes
