Frontend Web Developer
MadeByPi, based in Roundhay, Leeds, has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and
enthusiastic Frontend Web Developer to work with an existing small frontend development
team on a number of projects on our impressive client list. Your main responsibilities would
be creation of standards compliant HTML web pages based on designs created by our
creative team. Within an informal, sociable, dynamic environment this is your opportunity to

We are looking for someone with a passion for the web; someone who is always keeping an
eye on the latest trends, techniques and technologies within frontend development. We have
an open attitude to technology and are constantly looking forward to incorporating new
technologies into the work we produce for our clients.
Some of the main duties for this role are:
Building HTML/CSS web sites to match designs supplied by the Creative team.
Ensure web sites use clean, semantic mark up, are valid to W3C standards and meet
W3C WAI and UK DDA legislation requirements
Utilize HTML/CSS techniques to enhance both SEO and accessibility performance.
Ensuring source code is committed and maintained in our central Subversion
Liaise with MadeByPi Project Managers to ensure projects run smoothly and
Essential Skills Required
Excellent attention to detail and efficient working practices
A sound knowledge of HTML5 mark-up for page structure and semantics.
A sound knowledge of the latest CSS3 techniques with fallback solutions for legacy
browsers where required.
Ability to code HTML email templates for use with email marketing.
Familiarity with graphical software packages e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator
Knowledge of W3C WAI and UK DDA legislation
Understanding of browser capabilities and pit-falls.
Familiarity with responsive design or building sites for mobile browsers.
Understanding of SEO techniques within the website build.
Knowledge of any open source CMS’s such as Wordpress or Drupal.
Familiarity with CSS pre-processors such as LESS or SASS.
Knowledge of one or more MVC framework e.g. Symfony, Zend, Rails or Django.
Knowledge of version control systems such as SVN, Git etc.
