"Columbus Catholic High School"
July 21, 2011 Hello Columbus parents: I hope all of you are having an excellent summer. The administration and staff have also been working hard this summer to prepare for an outstanding school year. Our summer has been filled with construction and remodeling as we have been working hard to keep our many projects on track. When you return in August, you will notice our newly painted hallways and lockers and new drop ceiling with new lights on 1st and 2nd floor. The outside of the building has also been tuck-pointed which was a much-needed project. As we continue with the construction of Blessed Maria Pallotta Catholic Middle School, we will also be limited to one entrance on to the campus. By the time that school starts, St. Francis Drive will be the entrance and exit to the Columbus campus. Throughout the construction process, there will also be 2-way traffic all the way around the building. We ask for your continued patience and prayers for everyone during this construction project. We are very excited that you will be part of the Columbus family this year, and we are looking forward to partnering with you in your child’s education. The four years of high school are very important for your child, and they always fly by so I encourage you to get involved at Columbus and to help make this a great experience for your child. We are expecting great things from your child, and we know that their future is bright. This letter includes some very important information about upcoming dates so please read carefully. There is also a letter from CVCS Director of Education Jeff Frost and information about the Aug. 16th roll-out of our IPad 2s. Please make sure you read them carefully. If you are a 9th grade parent or the parent of a student new to Columbus, you are invited to New Student Orientation on Aug. 15 th. More information is on the back of this letter. Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions. At Business Night, you will be asked to review and confirm your email address or to supply one if you have not provided one at this point. If you do not have home or work email, you can let us know so that you do not miss important information that is sent via email. I will also be continuing to send weekly parent emails this year to keep you abreast of the events of the past week and the things that are coming up. Business Night is scheduled for Aug. 9th from 3-6pm at Blessed Sacrament. Student schedules will be available that night. You can also pay fees and make lunch deposits. We will not be printing copies of The Navigator (Columbus Parent/Student Handbook) this year for everyone. We are asking that everyone access The Navigator on the Columbus website (www.columbushigh.org). The Navigator will also be loaded on to all of the student IPad 2s. If you do not have access to the Internet, please let us know at Business Night, and we will provide a copy of The Navigator for you. A copy of the Columbus dress code is also included with this letter. All families are expected to read and be familiar with what is in the Navigator in regards to procedures and school rules. (Over) Please remember in your prayers all of our Columbus family members that may be battling illness or have suffered a loss in their families.
