Widely acknowledged as one of America’s leading planners and designers of science and technology facilities, his experience spans the bio-pharmaceutical industry, academic and biomedical research facilities, government research institutions, and internationally based research and development and corporate facilities. Building upon his proven track record of managing large-scale, national projects, Stark’s initial project focus will be as Executive Project Director for the modernization of the United Nations Headquarters. With more than 40 years of experience and a deep expertise in the planning and design of complex, technology-intensive projects, Stark has played pivotal roles in the design of major projects for clients including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, New York City Department of Health, Merck, Amgen, the Columbia University Medical Center, and Rutgers University. In 2010, he ended a three-year stint on the AIA/New York chapter's Fellows Committee, of which he was Chair in 2010. A frequent and sought-after lecturer, Stark often participates on panels and in study groups for major industry organizations such as the New York Academy of Sciences, the National Science Foundation, Tradeline, the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers, Lab Design, and the United Kingdom R+D Consortium, speaking on how the demands and needs of science intersect with science and technology facilities.
