Leasing a unit is more than just receiving a completed rental application and getting a signature on a lease. Determining if the applicant meets your rental criteria and understanding your lease are crucial to smart leasing. In the first part of this informative session, Tony Karels of Rental Housing Reports, will discuss: • how to implement an effective background screening procedure • how screening benefits your company • various levels of screening from those that can be done independently to those a third party can provide In the second part of this vital session Todd Liljenquist, MHA’s Director of Government Relations, will walk you through property management’s most important document, the rental lease. He’ll discuss: • what you can and cannot put into your lease • the different types of leases available • and much more, using MHA’s lease as the template for the discussion
