Under immediate supervision of the Assistant Director of Programs, assists in enhancing the co-curricular
environment of the University Student Union by working with student volunteers and interns in all program
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Manages the student-produced television production, College Beat. Directly supervises student
assistants and volunteer membership of College Beat. Provides policies and procedure
statements for USU media. Encourages, motivates, and assists the College Beat membership in
the design and implementation of production efforts to enhance the educational process including
preproduction, research topics, creative development, scriptwriting, and projecting timelines.
2. Recruits, hires, trains and supervises USU Media student employees.
3. Assists with the formulation and development of programming procedures for activities held in the
University Student Union. Guides students employees and volunteers in achieving problem-
solving strategies related to policy, program, and administration.
4. Recruits, coordinates, and advises the College Bowl Team, including the coordination of campus
tournaments and regional competitions.
5. Works cooperatively with the graduate assistant staff to plan and implement large scale
programs and/or student training sessions as needed.
6. Assists with the training and supervision of the Maxson Student Organization Center student
staff, operations, and programs.
7. Manages the operating budget for the Media department.
8. Meets weekly with the Assistant Director of Programs. Meets monthly with the ASI Associate
Executive Director/Director of the University Student Union.
9. Serves on ASI, University, and ACUI committees as directed or approved.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; programming experience preferred. Enrolled in and making satisfactory
progress in the SDHE or related graduate degree program at CSULB.
Knowledge and Abilities
Successful candidate will possess strong student development knowledge and the ability to connect well
with students. Must be willing to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse group of student staff and
volunteers. Willingness to research information and professional organizations. Exceptional customer
skills are a must. Must possess enhanced leadership skills and be able to work in a diverse environment.
Concurrent enrollment in six or more graduate units at CSULB.

must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include
