Poem About AIDS From MIX
Did you know that the number of people living with HIV
Is about thirty-nine point five million in two-thousand and three?
This epidemic is one that needs to be deflected.
Can you believe, it’s more than 50% higher than projected.
There are fourteen million AIDS orphans who are left behind,
Their moms and dads only left as memories in the mind.
This global killer is out on the loose,
Fear, ignorance, mis-education is not an excuse!
This fatal disease hits closest to home,
The next life it takes might just be one of our own!
As a people of MIX, we come from many places,
Zanzibar is a prime example, of a country made of many races.
One man in particular, Freddy Mercury in a band called Queen,
Is one of the many faces of our group that can be easily seen.
Freddy had AIDS and on one sad day he died,
Let his story by our example, and his soul be our guide.
Let us unify and MIX and close each space,
Because AIDS effects the entire human race.
Before AIDS and HIV sweep across another nation,
Incorporate awareness into our children's education.
