           2011-2012 Good Husbandry Grant Application
The Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) program is offering grants of up to $5,000 to farmers and processors.
These grants are open to those participating in the AWA program or those who have an application for
certification pending. Proposals requesting partial funding for a larger project must follow the instructions in
Part 11. Farmers may apply for certification and for a grant simultaneously. Information regarding AWA
certification, including requirements and an application, is available at www.AnimalWelfareApproved.org.

The purpose of the Good Husbandry Grants is to fund or partially fund projects with an aim toward improving
the welfare of farm animals. The grants are not intended to subsidize current operations, but rather to
initiate changes for the benefit of the animals. Note that the grants are governed by the 2011-2012 Good
Husbandry Grant Guidelines. Please review the Guidelines (available at the website above) to determine your
eligibility.

If you are interested in applying for a Good Husbandry Grant, please review the Guidelines carefully and
complete the following form and mail the original and five (5) copies to the address below. Applications
must be postmarked on or before September 30, 2011 in order to be accepted for consideration. If you are in
need of further assistance or have questions about the application, please contact Emily Lancaster using the
information below.
