Dear Parent or Guardian:

On Wednesday, October 17, 2012, Keller High School will administer the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship
                                                                                                       ®.
Qualifying Test (PSAT). The PSAT is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT The PSAT/NMSQT
has three parts: Critical Reading, Math, and Writing Skills. The most common reasons students take the PSAT/NMSQT
are to: help assess skills necessary for college-level work, prepare for the SAT, enter competitions for National
Scholarships (junior year), and receive information from colleges.

Parents of freshmen may choose to have their child participate in the administration of the Preliminary SAT/National Merit
Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT). Participants will need to register for PSAT in the counseling department and provide
the required fee of $14 no later than September 25 at 4:00pm. If the registration fee is paid by check, please make payable
to Keller High School. Interested students will receive a copy of the Official Student Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT to help
prepare before test day.

Freshman students who opt not to participate in the administration of the PSAT will report to the Commons.

As the principal of Keller High School, I take a great deal of pride in our students and their academic and character
development. We are looking forward to working with you and your student. We know the results derived from the PSAT
test will provide valuable diagnostic tools in increasing our students’ educational growth.
