Purpose:                         To help reduce attrition due to financial hardship by providing support
                                 for selected students in the Associate Degree in Registered Nursing
                                 Program, particularly those coming from economically disadvantaged and
                                 minority backgrounds.

Criteria for Applying:

      1)     Enrolled in the Nursing Program at LACC
      2)     Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5
      3)     Live, as demonstrated by home address zip code, in a community suffering from a critical
             nursing shortage
      4)     Demonstrate financial need

Requirements:            Candidates must complete a one-page, typed self-profile essay indicating
                         background, interests, goals, and need for an award. An unofficial transcript, a
                         copy of the applicant's current registration and two (2) nursing faculty
                         recommendations are required and must be attached to this application. All
                         entries must be completed. In addition, candidates must submit a color passport-
                         sized photo and sign a statement, “My photograph may be used for
                         reproduction”. In addition, applicants must supply both LACC I.D. and Social
                         Security numbers.

Semester Awarded:                Spring 2012 and fall 2012

A minimum of eight (8) and a maximum of 15 scholarships will be awarded.
