AQIP Town Hall Meeting WELCOME! Purpose of Town Hall Meetings What are the goals of this event? Build energy Help employees make informed decisions when they vote Elicit additional considerations for each priority Further develop and refine ideas Summary of AQIP Focus Groups Four focus groups held: Two with representatives from program advisory committees and two with Lakeland students Participants asked: What are Lakeland’s strengths? What matters most? What are the areas for improvement? What are your recommendations for action? Advisory Committee Results Of the AQIP priorities, what matters most? • Building Collaborative Relationships • Understanding Students’ and Other Stakeholders’ Needs • Measuring Effectiveness Advisory Committee Results, cont. Examples of Project Recommendations: • Build on partnerships with 4-year schools on the Lakeland campus • Use state of the art technology for marketing • Identify companies willing to hire and develop Lakeland students • Improve counseling, advising, and outreach to students Student Results Of the AQIP priorities, what matters most? • Helping Students Learn • Understanding Students’ and Other Stakeholders’ Needs • Building Collaborative Relationships Student Results, cont. Examples of Project Recommendations: • Improve access to up-to-date technology • Build partnerships with businesses to help students gain real world, career experiences • Expand Nursing program • Improve communication around financial aid opportunities • Increase course availability and fill “gaps” with online offerings • Offer 5 or 8 week refresher courses for students • Keep tuition affordable Town Hall Meeting Rules • Positive comments in support of topic • Keep to the focus of the discussion • Each AQIP category given 8 minutes: 1 minute summary of the themes with opportunity to write thoughts on subject and 7 minutes for comments • Comments must be less than 60 seconds; timer will be used • No 2nd chance to speak on a priority until everyone has been heard Questions to Consider • What is compelling about this priority? • What evidence supports this priority? • Are there additional considerations?
